Microsoft Launches Windows Server 2012

Bangalore: Microsoft has officially launched their most anticipated server operating system, Windows Server 2012, making it the final release available to customers for testing and purchase.

During the launch, Microsoft officials demonstrated over 300 new features of the OS through webcasting. Microsoft already indicates Windows Server 2012 as a very important piece of their cloud OS strategy.

"Our Cloud OS platform is consistent across all of these things," said Michael Park, Corporate Vice President of the Windows Server and Management Marketing Team. "And Windows Server 2012 was written from the cloud, up."

The company has been continuously running researches and tests on developing an OS exclusively for cloud platform, since September 2011. The aim was to integrate the features and characteristics of the OS into their next big development- Windows Azure.

"This is perhaps the biggest release of our server products in history, bigger than NT," Satya Nadella, president of Servers and Tools Business (STB) at Microsoft. "I was here at Microsoft when we launched Windows NT, which ushered in the era of client/server, and we believe that Windows Server 2012 ushers in the era of the cloud operating system."

Right now Microsoft has combined the Windows Azure features along with Server 2012 OS, so that it can bring, process and manage applications across private, hosted and public clouds.

?Microsoft?s unique legacy in the most widely used operating systems, applications and cloud services positions us to deliver the Cloud OS, based on Windows Server and Windows Azure, helping customers achieve a datacenter without boundaries,? Nadella added.
