Buisness cardProfessional people should think carefully about the design of their business cards, it has been suggested.
Carol Collins, founder of CCimage.co.uk, suggested they can be a powerful networking, sales and marketing tool for businesspeople, if they are well set out.
She warned against including a photo headshot on the business card, because some people may have preconceptions about certain looks.
?I think the idea would be a telephone call is probably the next step,? Ms Collins said. ?You get to know somebody from their tone of voice, so probably book a telephone call.?
However, she advised businesspeople to include social media details on their cards, helping to direct consumers to Twitter feeds, Facebook pages and LinkedIn accounts.
Professionals should avoid placing too much information on their cards, she said, as clutter can be counter-productive when trying to make a great first impression.
?Maybe for creative [industries] that would be best but I don?t think it?d be suitable for lawyers, accountants ? those sort of roles I think it would look unprofessional,? Ms Collins stated.
Speaking to Lifehacker, Saul Wyner recently highlighted the potential benefits of creating interactive, double-sided business cards.
