(Lewiston, Maine) ? More than 180 exhibitors representing businesses throughout Maine, New England and beyond attended the 16th annual Androscoggin Business to Business Trade Show, June 8 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston. Billed as the largest one-day networking and business event in the state of Maine, the trade show exceeded expectations.
?Whenever you get banks, financial providers, manufacturers, logistic companies and small businesses under one roof, good things start to happen,? said Calvin Rinck, marketing director for the Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth Council. ?The goal of the trade show is for exhibitors to meet other businesses, network, share innovation, shake hands and build new relationships to further their business goals.?
Presented by the Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth Council, preliminary attendance figures indicate more than 1,500 industry professionals attended the event, open free of charge to the public, with an additional 1,000 participating. Started in 1995, the trade show continues to be the premier one-day business and networking event in the state of Maine.
Director of Operations for Lufthansa Technik, Michael Austermeier, kicked off the morning with a keynote address at the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce breakfast at Bates Commons. Austermeier spoke about the ongoing international restoration effort of Lufthansa Technik to refurbish a Lockheed Superstar Constellation aircraft at the Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airport.
Over 330 attendees participated in the morning breakfast before making their way to the floor of the trade show. During the day, Roland Landry, Owner of Falcon Performance Footwear in Auburn announced that the trade show had already provided him a number of business leads, exceeding his company?s expectations. ?My booth paid for itself and then some,? said Landry. ?I took enough orders from other vendors setting up the day before to cover my cost for next year.?
?It?s been a great day for making business connections,? said Bill Moulton of Nomad Pictures Film and Video in Portland. ?As a small business with a limited marketing budget, this gives us the opportunity to meet a lot of people and make important connections at a reasonable cost.?
At the conclusion of the trade show, the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth Council, hosted a Business After Hours with an estimated 800 attendees participating. With food provided by local food establishments, prizes, $1,000 cash presented to one winner and a grand prize grill courtesy of Agren Appliance going to Nina Bartlett of Turner, the day ended on a high note. ?I never win anything,? said Bartlett holding back tears. ?This is just great.?
